One of the projects of the Mediterranean Model Forest Network is the MED PROJECT “FORET MODELE.” The theme of this project is the establishment of an innovative methodology for coordination of regional policies on forests: The development of a new instrument of territorial governance, based on the application to the Mediterranean of the concept "Model Forest" as part of a broader transnational cooperation involving regions of Spain, France, Italy, Greece and Croatia.
Between the 6th and the 8th of October, members of this project held a technical meeting in Kozani, Greece. The meeting was held to establish a definition of a Mediterranean model of Model Forest for partners, and all the Mediterranean regions, and to deliver technical information needed to establish Model Forests in the Mediterranean (site selection, methodological guide).
Jacques Robert, of the Canadian Forest Service, and long-standing Model Forest Expert participated on behalf of the IMFN Secretariat. In addition to the technical meeting for the whole Mediterranean group, the IMFN representative and those from the Secretariat of the Mediterranean Model Forest Network also led discussions during a session on Model Forest Site Selection.
