Turkey hosted a Strategic Planning Workshop on May 27-28, 2010 as part of the ongoing development of the Yalova Model Forest. Some 40 participants attended, representing a large sample of stakeholders. Participants engaged in lively and fruitful discussions, and it is expected that all the key elements will be in place over the coming weeks to finalize the Yalova Model Forest Strategic Plan.

 

Key strategic directions were identified and include: forest management and protection; forest revenues including from NTFPs (mushrooms, pine nut, honey, etc); and environmental goods and services. The MMFN and IMFN Secretariats were represented at the workshop by Pilar Valbuena and Nicolas Duval-Mace.
