Preceding the Board meetings of the Ibero-American Model Forest Network, it is customary to hold special events. The next Board meeting to be held the second week of June, 2010 is no exception as a special event will be held that promotes the Model Forest concept locally. Two activities that are planned are the sharing of successful experiences between Model Forests and a workshop on local leadership, which forms part of a project generated by the IAMFN in its search for local leaders. The business meeting of the Board will deal with important issues such as the incorporation of Model Forest Colinas Bajas from the Dominican Republic, the participation of the IAMFN in the IMFN Global Forum 2011 in Valladolid, Spain, and other matters of regional interest. During the last day, a trip is planned to visit the eco-region Pandeiros, name of the host Model Forest. The Board meeting is expected to be attended by at least one representative from each Model Forest and government representative from each country participating, a representative of social institutions, and invited members of collaborating international organizations, and a representative from the African Model Forest Network. Special mention goes out to the Minas Gerais State Forestry Institute (IEF) who is coordinating this event along with the Ibero-American Model Forest Network.
