The Ibero-American Model Forest Network, established in 2002 and whose management team is based at CATIE in Costa Rica, represents the largest cluster of Model Forests in the IMFN.

The IAMFN currently encompasses 26 sites in 14 countries across Central and South America, the Caribbean and Spain. Its key priorities are:

  • The growth of the network and consolidation of the region’s Model Forests
  • The strengthening of the regional secretariat
  • Building collaborative partnerships and initiatives for knowledge sharing
  • Increasing the awareness of the IAMFN and the Model Forest concept throughout the region
